Sleep Disorders & Dentistry

October 26, 2010

This week I will be attending a two-day seminar put on by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.  Many people suffer from  sleep disorders that are potentially life threatening.  Sleep apnea is a condition in which breathing is interrupted many times during the night.  These patients are often treated by wearing a mask connected to a machine that will deliver oxygen.  Without this machine, patients may not get enough oxygen to their brain and body leading  to a possible fatal result.   Sometimes treatment may involve the wearing of a simple dental device that will keep the airway open.  Treatments are also now available to reduce or eliminate snoring. Follow my blog.  I will keep you “posted”.

Improvements in Dentistry

Dr. David J. Hauss

Dentistry is getting better over time.  I have been practicing dentistry for almost thirty years and every year brings new procedures that make dentistry easier, faster, more comfortable,  and prettier.  Whitening, bonding, veneers, and new types of crowns are leading the cosmetic revolution.  Lasers are providing a means to painlessly contour tissue and improve the health of the bone and gums surrounding the teeth.  Dental patients:  Your time is now.  Dentistry has never been better!
