Seattle Son

October 1, 2016

Many of my dental patients may have been wondering why I was unavailable most of August this year. My last blog detailed our family’s annual vacation. This year we spent three weeks in beautiful Iceland. When we returned, I fulfilled a promise to drive with my son to his first job.

1300 miles and three days later we arrived in Seattle, Washington.  The rest of the family flew up to  help Michael set up his new apartment and do some sightseeing.

The drive was arduous and the time away from my office was costly but what a great opportunity to spend time with my son as he embarks on the next stage of his life.

The Dental Vibe

May 6, 2012

This past weekend I attended our annual California Dental Association meeting held at the Anaheim Convention Center.  As readers of this blog know, I love any instrument or procedure that can improve the dental care that I provide to my patients. A previous blog detailed last year’s purchase of the Isolite System.  My patients and I love that device so much that I purchased another,  but that is not the purpose of this writing.

Let’s face it, the worst part of any dental visit is the injection (if necessary).  Everyone hates the “shot”.  I hate giving it and you hate getting it. . Some people postpone their needed dental care because of this fear.  I always place a numbing gel prior to administering the injection and vigorously shake the patient’s cheek as a form of distraction and most of the time I am successful.

In strolling up and down the aisles at the dental convention, I came across the “DentalVibe Injection Comfort System.  This device works by using vibration as a counter stimulation to an anesthetic injection.  Its sensation reaches the brain first, blocking the feeling of pain.  It is a more  controlled replacement for my vigorous  shaking of cheeks.   Anyway, who wouldn’t like to go to the dentist and get all of their necessary dental work with pain-free injections?

Stay tuned.  As soon as my DentalVibe arrives, I will start using and evaluating it.  I will report my experiences in this blog.
